Evidently Lettuce Grows in Dirt / by Alan Strathman

I cannot tell you the last time I purchased lettuce that still had dirt on it. It feels so authentic.  In the U.S. my lettuce was always triple washed and plastic packaged. It was convenient, but this feels more like real lettuce.

The man next to the boys' school has a garden.  I gave him $5 EC, which equates to $1.85 US, then watched as he went to the garden and harvested the lettuce.  He gave me a giant bag that will last me quite a while. For $1.85 US.

When he handed it to me over the fence, he said, "Give it a good washing." I did. I made good use of my salad spinner. And I had some delicious lettuce.
